If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that our health is more important than ever before. A huge part of investing in our health is all about our mindset. We are trained to see our body as separate from our mind but if we are to truly embrace the idea of health, we need to view the body as a whole. That is, understanding what we do to our body has an impact on our mind, and vice versa.

It is important to understand the role nutrition, exercise and mindfulness have in our overall physical and mental health. You may have noticed that your mood often affects the types of food you choose, as well as how much you eat. Some foods can lift your mood, energy levels, and concentration, while others can have the opposite effect. How we fuel our body day-to-day has a significant impact on our mood, our energy, our gut health, our chronic disease risk, and our overall vitality.
We live in a society than enables us to purchase food at any time. Unfortunately, a lot of it is highly processed, devoid of vital nutrients and calorie dense. This overabundance and consumption of nutritionally poor food is a proven trigger for inflammation that contributes to immune dysfunction, poor mental health, chronic diseases, cancer, and obesity. As stated in the latest United Nations System Standing Committee on Nutrition newsletter, “Unhealthy diets are the leading cause of ill-health.”
I want to be at the forefront of nurturing a culture that recognises the power of food. Food is the way to reverse the tidal wave of lifestyle related illnesses that are threatening to exhaust our medical system. I am passionate about teaching people how good they can feel. Our lifestyle habits, what we eat and how our body functions all play an instrumental and modifiable role on how we feel in our body and mind.
Creating a healthy relationship with food can be challenging. It takes patience, practice, a whole lot of self-compassion and awareness. Sometimes this is difficult to do on your own without a professional to support you in unlearning food related beliefs and patterns of eating that are making it stressful and difficult to make appropriate food choices.
If you are open and ready to make changes, you may benefit from working with a nutrition expert, to address your unique nutrition and lifestyle needs and provide clarity and support so you can be confident and find ease in making the best food choices for you.
Feel free to get in touch for a free 10-minute consultation where we can discuss your health concerns and how I may be of support to you.
